What you can do. Make your concerns known.
What can you do?
The Draft Illawarra Regional Growth and Infrastructure Plan:
- enables sand mining in biologically important forests near the Gerroa Caravan Park.
- proposes urban expansion on Kiama’s fertile, well watered farmlands. These volcanic soils should be protected as a food producing resource.
- fails to plan for climate change even though sea levels are rising at 3.2mm a year.
HOW can your voice be effective?
Tell your politicians and planners that theses are the wrong values and you want biologically important forests and high value agricultural soils protected. Tell them that climate change adaption and avoidance strategies should be built into this planning document.
- Make a submission to the Department of Planning and Infrastructure: Complete the online survey or better still make an online or written submission outlining your concerns.
