GERROA SAND MINE EXTENSION – LANDSCAPE & REHABILITATION SINCE 2008

The remaining incomplete components of the 2008 Landscape and Rehabilitation Plan should be completed, as required by the conditions of consent.

Much of the compensatory plantings set down in the LEC conditions of consent have been implemented, however, in some outstanding areas plantings have either failed to survive or remain incomplete, particularly areas 5C1, 2B1 2A3 in the Plan.2

Significantly, the planting of 2C1 buffer to Blue Angle Creek is inadequate. (appendix 1 – click to see).

The area of plantings at the northern end is considerably narrower than the 50-metre width required by the conditions of consent (appendix 2 – click to see). These plantings are an important part of the narrow vegetation link and will become more significant when the proposed dredge pond is established.
